Dating back to 1965, the Jebsen Group’s strategic alliance with Store Norske Spitsbergen Grubekompani AS (SNSG) illustrates our role as a total transport solutions provider.

 

SNSG currently produces about 2-2.5 million tonnes per annum of energy-rich, environment-friendly and highly sought after coal. However, it is the remote location of its Svea Nord facility that creates the most important set of challenges in terms of maximising deliveries to different markets within the annual five month ice free window.

 

The Jebsen’s controlled company Polar Coal KS assumes full operating responsibility for port logistics including tugs and ice breakers, shipment scheduling to suit the client’s production and performance in Handy through to Panamax tonnage, we bring together the benefits of the Groups extensive experience in bulk transport, shipboard expertise, technical management, hands-on tonnage and scheduling control to offer our client a total logistical package, ensuring reliable, competitive and efficient transportation.

 

Each year we ship an average of 2.5 million tonnes of coal from Spitsbergen. Our long experience in the Spitzbergen trade and all relevant European ports guarantees both efficient and environmentally safe transportation.
