The North Sea Trading has been an area of primary focus of the Jebsen Group since its inception in 1929. At present, operations have expanded to include services in the Mediterranean and the Irish Sea.
Initially served by smaller handysize tonnage in the 800-7,000 dwt range, the pursuit of greater economies of scale in the industries has shaped our current fleet profile of 11 highly specialized self-unloaders (the ‘Beltships’) of between 7,000-30,000 dwt. These vessels use gravity-fed belt self unloading system - the most efficient and environmental-friendly method of handling drybulk commodities.
The Belt Self-unloading mechanism, represents an innovative solution improving voyage performance by addressing the challenges of rising shore based cargo handling costs, combined with the need to constantly minimise port time. It has the capability to achieve hourly discharge rates of 700 to 3000 metric tonnes continuously on a 24 hour basis, depending ship and cargo content. The benefits offered by this system have in turn enabled our customers to maintain a leading edge in their respective industries.
